KIDS DESIGN - tesco

I am back on one of my favourite subjects today - kids design, with a look at the arrivals at UK supermarket Tesco. Tesco's children's clothes now come under their label F&F and this seasons prints feature hand drawn monochrome designs such as bunnies and bears, as well as the 'must have' 3D motifs that stand proud from the clothing using wadded applique. Dinosaurs and woodland creatures continue to be popular along with transport themes for boys. Here are some of the newest pieces snapped in yesterday store...

TEXTILES - charlotte gaisford

Charlotte Gaisford is a fabric and wallpaper designer who graduated two years ago with a Textile degree (first). She immediately started her own business and gathered plenty of press interest in her textile and wallpaper designs (Charlotte has a wallpaper design in The World Of Interiors magazine October issue). Charlotte first showed her work at New Designers in 2015 and is now exhibiting at Decorex this week for the second year. Her latest collection is called Empire, and was inspired by her Great Grandfathers travels to Persia in 1894, he was a British diplomat visiting the Shah of Persia. The designs are organised it into three colourways, Edge, Dream and Sentiment. You can see all of Charlotte's collections and a fun film on the design process at her website here.

DESIGN CONTEST - sock it to me

It's that time of year again when Sock it To Me are running their annual Design a Sock contest. They have invited P&P readers to submit designs and win $2000 and see your socks go into manufacture. The deadline is 30th September so time is of the essence. All the details you need to know can be found at Sock it to Me on this link here (there is also a You Tube video). For inspiration I have gathered together some of the current sock designs found in UK stores to get your creative juices flowing and get an idea of what it is possible to achieve image wise in the sock manufacturing method.
